Vitamin K2
Vitamin K belongs to the fat-soluble vitamins and is the general term for a series of compounds that occur in both animal and plant foods. While Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is mainly found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach or lettuce, Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is produced by microorganisms and is mainly present in fermented foods such as sauerkraut or kefir.
Effects of Vitamin K2
Vitamin K is a cofactor for numerous proteins involved in blood coagulation and the incorporation of calcium into bones. Therefore, Vitamin K is an essential nutrient for normal blood coagulation and the maintenance of healthy bones.

Vitamin K2 from BioProphyl contains fermentatively produced Vitamin K2 as bioactive all-trans menaquinone-7. Its special feature: it is not obtained from natto and is free from any soy components. This makes our Vitamin K2 also suitable for people who are allergic to soy protein. In addition, Vitamin K2 has a purity level of 99.9%, and thus a significantly higher purity than Vitamin K2 from synthetic production.
Just one drop provides 100 µg, which is 133% of the daily dose recommended by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). To achieve this amount with the help of Vitamin K2-containing foods, one would need to consume about 1 kg of dairy products per day – quantities that hardly anyone consumes daily.
