Vitamin D3 - The Sunshine Vitamin
Vitamin D belongs, together with vitamins A, E, and K, to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. Since it can be obtained both through diet and produced by the body itself, it occupies a special position among vitamins.
The prerequisite for the body's own synthesis is adequate sunlight exposure (UVB radiation) on the skin. In summer, 15 to 30 minutes of sunshine on the face, hands, and forearms are already sufficient in our latitudes to achieve the desired vitamin D concentration. The intake of vitamin D through diet, compared to the total daily supply, is relatively low: according to the National Nutrition Survey II, the average intake through food is only about 2–4 µg of vitamin D per day. Notable sources of vitamin D include fatty sea fish such as herring, salmon, and mackerel. In significantly smaller amounts, vitamin D is also found in egg yolk, some edible mushrooms, and fortified margarine.
Effects of Vitamin D
It is generally known that vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of healthy bones. However, the vitamin also takes on a variety of other tasks in the human body: it supports calcium and phosphate absorption and the maintenance of calcium levels in the blood. Furthermore, it is involved in maintaining healthy teeth and normal muscle function. In addition, vitamin D is required for a functioning immune system and plays an important role in cell division processes.
Vitamin K2
The term vitamin K refers to a group of compounds produced by both animal organisms and plants. Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is mainly found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach and lettuce, whereas vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is produced by microorganisms and is mainly found in fermented foods. A particularly vitamin K2-rich food is Natto, a Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans. New studies indicate that the simultaneous intake of vitamin K2 and vitamin D3 is particularly recommended.
Effects of Vitamin K2
Vitamin K plays a key role in blood clotting and supports the maintenance of healthy bones.
Vitamin D3 K2 contains natural vitamin D3, fermentative vitamin K2, and acerola fruit powder in a fruity-tart lozenge. Already one tablet provides 25 µg (1,000 IU), which is 500% of the recommended daily dose. For illustration, the following table shows a selection of foods containing vitamin D and the respective amounts that would need to be consumed to achieve a vitamin D intake of 25 µg:

Each lozenge also contains 75 µg of fermentatively produced vitamin K2 in the form of bioactive all-trans menaquinone-7. The special feature: the vitamin K2 we use does not come from natto and is free from any soy components. It is therefore also suitable for people who are allergic to soy protein.
The extraction of vitamin K2 is carried out using supercritical CO2 extraction without any chemical solvents. Another advantage lies in its purity: with a purity level of 99.9%, the vitamin K2 shows significantly higher purity than synthetically produced K2.
By using acerola powder, each lozenge also contains 12 mg of pure natural vitamin C from the acerola cherry.
The combination of vitamin D3 and K2 in one lozenge allows for the simultaneous intake of both vitamins in a balanced ratio and with just one product. Vitamin D3 K2 therefore offers an optimal price-performance ratio.
