Krill oil owes its characteristic red color to the carotenoid astaxanthin, a natural component of the microscopic algae on which krill feeds.
It is especially valued for the essential omega‑3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contained in it. Unlike fish oil, these in krill oil are not bound to triglycerides but to phospholipids, which form a significant component of our cell membranes. Because of this binding, the omega‑3 fatty acids of krill oil exhibit significantly higher bioavailability and can be utilized by the human organism particularly easily. They are absorbed more efficiently and thus reach the bloodstream and target tissues more quickly. Each capsule contains 89 mg EPA and 41 mg DHA.
Choline, another component of krill oil, is involved in fat and cholesterol metabolism in the liver and has been shown to contribute to the maintenance of normal liver function. Two capsules provide 82.6 mg choline, which together with the omega‑3 fatty acids constitutes the nutritional advantage of krill oil.

To ensure the sustainability of krill catches, an independent observer is present on board every ship, who properly documents and reports the catch quantity. In addition, bycatch is reduced to a minimum and regularly controlled by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
