The small trace element with a big impact
Why iodine is more than just a nutrient – and why good intake remains important in everyday life.
It often happens without much warning. You may feel a little slower, less clear-headed or not quite as resilient as usual. It is not always caused by anything serious. But sometimes it is worth taking a closer look at the nutrients that quietly play an essential role in the background.
We are talking about iodine. An essential trace element that the body cannot produce itself and must therefore obtain through food.1 Iodine is particularly important for the thyroid gland, which needs it to produce its hormones.1
Iodine supply in everyday life
Iodine supply in Germany has improved over the years, but it remains an important topic for many people. The DGE gives a reference value of 150 µg per day for adults, 220 µg for pregnant women and 230 µg for breastfeeding women.2 Especially with a modern diet that contains little sea fish, dairy products or iodized salt, intake can quickly become low.3
Iodine is not a trend nutrient, but a quiet companion for many central body functions.
The thyroid gland as a pacemaker
The thyroid gland is small, but it has a major influence. Its hormones are involved in important metabolic processes, including energy metabolism, the regulation of body temperature, and growth and cell division.1 This is precisely why an adequate iodine intake is so important for normal thyroid function.
The officially authorized health claims state this clearly: iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones, to normal thyroid function and to normal energy-yielding metabolism.4
More than just the thyroid gland
Iodine also contributes to normal cognitive function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system.4 The maintenance of normal skin is also one of the authorized health claims.4
Natural source in the product
Our Organic Kelp Capsules contain iodine from organic kelp seaweed. The formula is deliberately kept simple: organic kelp seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum), organic rice flour and a plant-based capsule shell. Each capsule provides 200 µg iodine, clearly corresponding to the recommended daily intake for the product.
This makes the product a simple, everyday supplement for anyone who wants to specifically support their iodine intake.
Officially authorized claims
The following claims are authorized in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 432/2012 and may be used with a suitable daily dose.4
| Function | Authorized claim |
|---|---|
| Thyroid gland | Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and to normal thyroid function. |
| Energy metabolism | Iodine contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. |
| Cognition | Iodine contributes to normal cognitive function. |
| Nervous system | Iodine contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system. |

All information refers to the recommended daily intake of 1 capsule per day.
Simple in everyday life
Iodine is not a miracle cure, but an important part of a balanced diet. That is precisely why many people choose targeted supplementation when they want to consciously keep an eye on their daily intake.
Notice: Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of reach of children.
